Description
Fresh snow blankets a Vermont maple sugar shack on a February morning. A sugar shack, also known as sap house, sugar house, sugar shanty or sugar cabin is a semi-commercial establishment, primarily found in Eastern Canada and northern New England. Taking tree sap from maple trees, the sap is boiled down to syrup without harming the trees. 24 buckets of tree sap make one bucket of maple syrup.
